A Wiki is a collaborative web site where visitors can both read and write content. See WikiWikiWebFaq at the original WikiWikiWeb for more context. This is my rendition of a very simple, almost minimalist (but not really) Wiki script. UseModWiki seemed too heavy and dense to my puny grey matter to add the resource plug-in feature I wanted, and none of the other Wiki programs I found had especially amicable license terms or feature sets.

Its features include:

• Separate, heavily commented configuration script
• HTML templates for page formatting
• Extensible 'resources' feature (ie, plug-ins)
• Change records using diff
• Pages stored as plaintext files
• Page title searching to avoid searching entire contentbase
• Automatically depluralizes plural links to existing pages (eg, 'OnlineCommunities' is linked to the existing 'OnlineCommunity' page)
• BSD-style license

An example plug-in would be the LessTalk diagram applet.

Its missing and anti-features include:

• Flatfile storage of content and metadata
• No page renaming or deletion
• No 'add' or 'remove' events in the plug-in resource model
• No Wikispeak for ordered lists
• RecentChanges doesn't show the X most recent changes, but all the changes since use began (or manual list truncation)
• Heavy use of regular expressions where normal code may work better
