The mammalian vs reptilian idea especially can be opined upon: furries on MUCKs, with their generally open attitudes, play many more mammals than reptiles. In fact in the past couple of days, some of us on SPR have been lightly accosted by a particular reptile with a vocal anti-pleasure attitude. However, there are plenty of reptile characters who have mammalian characteristics, if not just from the general cultural climate of the MUCKs.
Of course, the big furry family is quite often dysfunctional (more often than not, in some places) so in no way am I saying that a promiscuous attitude is a panacea--but a big draw for me of MUCK communities is that they are often so friendly. The article's thought-provoking, given I'm curious about online communities and such things.
