Jabber Open Source Project Survey.

Jabber Open Source Project Survey. In response to, What functionality is most needed by Jabber as a whole? I said:

IM is important for the public; it's the lead-in to join the Jabber cloud, but isn't the most important (especially for programmers) function of the cloud in the first place. Jabber has the unenviable position of needing to both a) be a good IM system to gain users, and b) be a good XML routing and presence management system to encourage incorporation into a wider range of applications.

a) is a function of quality IM services (eg, keeping jabber.org's AIM transport running, and good client software), while b) requires good documentation and libraries. I also suggested perhaps a Simple API for Jabber, like SAX.
