Here's standards-compliant code to do a pop-up like Disenchanted wants. Stolen from J David Eisenberg, my new local area god of CSS; specifically DOM Design Tricks 1 at A List Apart.

This is a <div/> with id="viewableScript" and style="display: none; position: absolute;". Without that position value, the browser will redraw the layout around the <div/>, which isn't a pop-up effect. Here's the code:

function setIdProperty( id, property, value )
{
    var styleObject = document.getElementById( id );
    if (styleObject != null)
    {
        styleObject = styleObject.style;
        styleObject[ property ] = value;
    }
}

setIdProperty('viewableScript', 'display', 'block');
