Gorillaz

Hey, Why Bother To Use Real People? -- EMI Heavily Promotes Animated Group Gorillaz asks Plastic. I'm in the corner with jumpcut75:

This is hardly a Milli Vanilli act. As has been said before all of the participants in this musical collective have done some pretty amazing work on their own.... If they just threw some pop crap together and said lets make a cartoon for it I would agree, but the music is a pretty innovative synthesis of hip hop alternative latin trip hop and various other things tossed in to the mix and the music stands for itself.... The Clint Eastwood song rocks.

It's the opposite of a Milli Vanilli act: it's the folks in front who're fake. EMI is at least smart enough to know taking the Gorillaz property and retrofitting it onto cheaper musicians would murder all the hype, goodwill, and recognition.

Clint Eastwood is also one of the videos I'd like to see on a DVD or VCD of animated videos. But that's me.
