is a proper noun or not--they look like they might be from some game or something.
I'm again reading The Artificial Kid (by Bruce Sterling, you see, and my copy happens to be the reprint in the Hardwired
series edited by--gasp--Mark Frauenfelder). Nice--weirder than Heavy Weather and even Holy Fire, but the Mechanist/Shaper stuff is right up there. The title character is part of the combat artist
scene, so it even goes with street violence figurines,
too.
