Besides numerology, the date usually has significance for these events, like the OKC bombing. CBS News reported it's the anniversary of Camp David peace accords--saying or implying (I forget) that it's the anniversary of a signing--but that's, says someone on FurryMUCK, 17 September. I read somewhere else that it's Afghanistan's independence day, but it's not: that's 27 May, though tomorrow is their National Assembly Day,
being the second Wednesday in September.
So other than it being 9 11 (which someone just noted, calling it a joke
), there's no real significance today, afaik.

actually, there are a few… one of the most notable is that sept 11 1941 was the date that construction first began on the Pentagon, which you may recall was hit on 2001, along with the WTC.
