Yeah, it's short notice--Sonja Petrovic said so in the mail--but UTC grad and "open-source guru" Joel Sherrill, Ph.D., of Huntsville's OAR Corporation is speaking at the UTC IEEE CS meeting this Monday (like, four days from today Monday).
Not only is he involved in OAR's RTEMS, an open source POSIX 1003.1b OS for military applications, but he's on the GCC Steering Committee, and at least has some links about software metrics, which Dr Nemecek discussed yesterday in 450.
I'm not sure if it's open to the public, but UTC IEEE CS president (or some such) Sonja Petrovic would. The meetings are (usually) pizza-catered for $3 to non-members. It's Monday 18 February at 11am, in the UTC University Center's Lookout Mountain Room.
