Chris Pirillo mentions emusic and their TMBG stuff, which seems as good a time as any to point out that, between Mink Car, Severe Tire Damage, and Long Tall Weekend, one can make a much more upbeat and, in my opinion, better album than the real Mink Car itself. The funny thing is most of my changes is substituting other versions of the same songs. Here's my start; changes are emboldened, so songs otherwise unlabeled are from the real Mink Car:
- Bangs
- Cyclops Rock
- Man, It's So Loud In Here
- Mr Xcitement (w/M Doughty)
- First Kiss (Severe Tire Damage)
- I've Got a Fang
- Hovering Sombrero
- Yeh Yeh
- Hopeless Bleak Despair
- Drink
- Doctor Worm (Severe Tire Damage)
- Certain People I Could Name (Long Tall Weekend)
- Older (Long Tall Weekend)
- Wicked Little Critta
- Finished With Lies
- (She Thinks She's) Edith Head (Long Tall Weekend)
The omitted songs are "My Man," "Mink Car," and "Working Undercover for The Man." "Mink Car" is the only loss, but there's just too much sad to justify leaving it in. This new playlist is about two and a half minutes shorter, which is almost entirely due to not replacing "Working Undercover for The Man" with anything. I wanted to say how much it'd cost to put this album together with emusic, but they stopped publishing prices for each song since I used it last. It doesn't cost me a cent because I'm the kind of fan who already bought all the albums--but even I bought Mink Car on Half.com.
