I've been watching 120 Minutes on MTV2 (TiVoed anyway) pretty regularly the past few weeks; here's some of the first batch of songs I liked (and some of the newer have gone into the list).
- DJ Shadow - Six Days. Nice moody video in the same grungy style as you'd find on a self-styled typographer's web site. Which means I haven't really watched it since then, though the song is nice. Are they original lyrics? I may've googled to find out but don't remember finding anything conclusive.
- Looper - The Snare. Basic synthpoppy song; the video feels nicely low-budget without feeling too old. Carries the paranoid tone of the song quite well.
- Kinky - Cornman. Lumi liked this song. The video is a funny one with a cow. Electronic music needs more accordion.
- Flogging Molly - What's Left of the Flag. Still think this would make at least a passable national anthem.
I also got through Bruce Sterling's Crystal Express. A few good stories, but I could've lived without it. I'm also glad I got Davíd Garza's Overdub used, since... well, it isn't that great.
A Beautiful Mind was good; I doubt my parents liked it as much as I did. I loved the reference in last night's Good Eats, and laughed, but Ma was asleep at that point so she didn't see it. I don't think she saw any of that episode, even.
