China launches Linux "dragon chip", challenges Intel. I guess it's just another chip for cheap Linux boxen--but that's unusual as it is, and as the article says, might be an IP violation. It reminds me of the new Microtel boxes ready for AOL on Netscape OS (actually Lindows 2.0), since they use Via's processor instead of Intel or AMD. (My Microtel box has an Intel Pentium 4.)
Relatedly, Ink prognosticated AOL/Linux for 2008, so it's early if it's as close to release as the MSNBC article says. As he said, though, that's a good thing compared to all the other things that aren't happening yet.
