I'm not sure what made my friend say winget's Get dialog has a memory leak. If I watch the memory counter in Task Manager, I can see it go up the first time I open the Get dialog--but it also goes up the first time I open the tray icon's menu at all. Subsequent opening of the Get dialog doesn't raise the memory usage any more. I'll ask my friend about it next time I speak with him.
