MetroNet lining up major downtown customers (Chattanoogan)

MetroNet lining up major downtown customers (the links are mine, even though Chattanoogan is all web afaik):

Switches are being installed this week... and service is expected to begin as soon as next month.

Kimberly D. O'Leary, MetroNet CEO and president, said the switches are being installed at UTC, the Maclellan Building, the Chattanooga Times/Free [sic] Press, the Krystal Building, the Tallan Building, the Republic Centre and Chattanooga Online's Virtual Building. ...

Ms. O'Leary said a number of firms outside Chattanooga are in talks with her about relocating here because of MetroNet, which is connected to a supercomputer at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory [hence the faucet at UTC, which I was wondering about]. ... She said MetroNet was a main reason that the SimCenter agreed to move here from Mississippi [it did? See third editorial on this page, a week after the referenced Times Free Press article].

There was a little chat about it in the cool-off LUG type meeting thing at the end of the LAN party, wherein I established to myself that I don't know the first thing about it. Others seem to think they won't be able to fund it at the rates they say for very long, and will have to subsidize it with taxes or raise prices after a while.

But I sure don't know.
