In comments on some FAQ about Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom, kimmie of starjewel.org writes, "Stupid Amazon, I ordered "Down And Out..." a week ago and it won't ship until February 4. Barnes and Noble has it stocked and is shipping within 2-3 days."
To which I say:
GAAAAAAH!!
because, despite having ordered the book 25 September, and Amazon's current estimated latest delivery date of 13 January (!!), my copy hasn't even shipped yet. I'm certainly glad I ordered the textbook I needed from half.com; it wasn't substantially cheaper (a few dollars) but at least I had it Wednesday! With Amazon having acquired cdnow, I don't know where online to buy commercial music anymore, unless I want to order from hmv.ca (which I did to get Bran Van 3000's Discosis, which IIRC still isn't released in an international/US version now that Grand Royal went kaput).
