Did you know the Flaming Lips were on Beavis & Butthead for their 1994 "hit" "She Don't Use Jelly?" (1994 was nine years ago.) I recognized it and the other Flaming Lips oldie 120 Minutes played, "Race for the Cure," but I couldn't've even remembered them if you'd mentioned them. They've been around 20 years, this year. Wayne Coyne reminded me of Apples in Stereo's Robert Schneider, who seemed like he was on something when he was on 120 Minutes, all and his slightly grating staccato laugh--but I think he's just happy like that. AMG calls them both "sunny" and "neo-psychedelic," so there's no telling. Or at least only a little.

During a break, Iann Robinson of MTV News said Linkin Park are good at "radio-friendly unit-movers." Also saw a commercial for the new Massive Attack album, which Tom Coates appears to be enjoying.

My copy of MindCandy vol 1: PC demos came today; I haven't watched it yet. I also bought their Audiophonik: Music for the scene generation. (It's very good so far; currently listening to #7, Zodiak's "Gate 99 (Last Call)," which is kind of acid-jazzy.) They came with a couple stickers and postcard ad for Diffusion Records who publish Iris' Awakening, which the electronic/IDM folk I speak to have mentioned once or twice. I don't really get into IDM, though. I hope I'm not getting less open.
