Return of 120 Minutes

It's been a while since I mentioned MTV2 120 Minutes (looks like February), and to be honest I haven't really been watching it. But I watched the 28 April episode (most recent on the TiVo, because I happened to mark it undeletable) and liked some of the videos:

  • They showed a new version of "Lost Cause" by Beck. I liked the original video better, but the song's still nice.
  • "Dreaming of You" by The Coral. Ska-ish. Felt kinda old, but that might be from playing after "Up the Bracket" by the Libertines, which really felt old, reminding me of (I think) Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart." But AMG says they're similar, so I guess perhaps not?
  • "Date With the Night" by Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Harsher than what I usually like, but it'd fit in with the PJ Harvey etc I sometimes listen to.
  • "Monday Monday Monday" by 120 Minutes' guests, Tegan and Sara. I don't like their other song (I forgot the name), but this one's nice.
  • "Speaking in Tongues" by the Elms. I'm not crazy about this one either, but it's countryish in a way that doesn't put me off. (And I look them up and find they're "Christian Rock," which disinclines me to find out more about them.)
  • "Brand of Skin" by Folk Implosion is nice, though the song sounds way cooked in the video. The video has some anti-Western imagery, like the bombs of love destroying various bad forces like the money bird. It's entertaining though.
  • "Mirando de Lado" by Kinky. Lumi liked "Cornman" after I told him about it; this video is kind of nicer than Cornman's, but the song is more Latin though it has the same electronic influence.

I didn't want to list it above, but I have to mention I'll be having nightmares about "Danger! High Voltage" by Electric Six for a while. Buh.
