SBC lets you sign up for phone service by net, but they adamantly deny that my new home address exists. On top of that I think it may take too long for me to get DSL set up on top of the phone service; is SBC quick about that? However I wanted to get Speakeasy if possible. Would they be quick? They seem eager, though, to give me a one year contract and charge $300 if I move again within a year (which they credit back if I sign back up in 90 days, but what if they don't serve where I move?).
Comcast wants me to sign up and confirm an appointment time before showing me any legalese at all, which makes me wary in general. Service seems to be around $60 a month whether it's cable or DSL.
Sounds like I may learn to live without home Internet.

May well be an argument for going back to dialup until you’re certain you know where you’ll be living, aiee.
